My name is Penny Hayman, Head of Junior Primary. It is my privilege to be a member of the Junior Primary (JP) team at BCCC where we desire to partner with you in your child’s early learning journey – the foundational years.

 

At BCCC, our Christian perspective provides us with a lens through which every aspect of life and learning is viewed. We believe every child is uniquely and wonderfully created by God and desire to see each discover the Salvation story and begin their own journey towards faith formation. We are Educating for Eternity, Equipping for Life !

 

In JP the dedicated, skilled team of professionals are highly motivated to engage the young children entrusted into their care. Within the framework of the Australian Curriculum, teachers create rich learning experiences aimed to fuel curiosity through structured investigations and opportunities for exploration, play and fun.

 

Across these foundational years students will participate in a consistent approach to Literacy called The Literacy Collective. This high-impact, well-researched program provides tools required to accurately decode texts – reading, spelling and writing. The basis of our approach to Numeracy allows students to build their understanding of numeracy concepts through a hands-on approach.

 

Our focus in the JP years is to engage young children in a holistic learning experience. Through academic thoroughness, programs that nurture social and emotional growth (such as Play is the Way and Peer Support) along with strong connection and communication between school and home, our genuine desire is to see children thrive.

Blakes Crossing Christian College has two major enrolment intakes each year for children being enrolled in Reception.

​

Intake 1 is for children starting at the beginning of the year (Term 1), and intake 2 is for children starting mid-year (Term 3). Children who start reception through the mid-year (intake 2) will undertake 6 Terms (18 months of Reception.
